Sugar Creek Campground

After a LONG hiatus, hello from Scott & I and Trailblaising Adventures...coming to you from Sugar Creek Campground in Crawfordsville, Indiana (about 75 miles from home)!

We could not ask for a better view!

Arriving around dinnertime last night, check in was quick and the front desk girl was super friendly. The spot we chose, #38, allows for 40 feet...which just barely fits the Swinger, so they let us drop our trailer (we hauled the golf cart) in a nearby field for no extra charge. Sweet!

Scott backed the RV in and had us set up in no time...air conditioning is an awesome thing in this Indiana humidity!

An open-fire cooked dinner of trout and potatoes soon followed...but the best part was sitting down to a cold beverage and a creek-side concert played by my favorite guitarist :)

Up and at it early...but not too early this morning. While I cleaned everything up from the night before, Scott prepared breakfast. Yes, that's a Halloween tablecloth...we've been using the same one for about ten years now, going all the way back to the days of us camping at Lincoln State Park with Justin and Chasey's family. It's considered tradition now and replacing it would just not be right, SO we perpetually (except for October) look out of season...and we just don't care! And by the way, does Scott not look super adorable????

We're really looking forward to the rest of the Blais clan arriving on Friday, but we're also thankful for the two days of quiet we get to have together. Why it's taken us so long to take another journey is beyond me...this really is relaxing! That is until...

THIS GUY ALMOST FELL INTO SUGAR CREEK!!!!

Holy crap...so they say to keep your dog on a leash. Well, let's just say I didn't have him on one. Rafael (Raf...named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle...thanks Tommy) is almost blind and he doesn't move too fast...so we've been letting him just wander a bit nearby. BIG MISTAKE!

Some kids went by screaming and having fun in their inner tubes and he got all excited with the noise & ran to the creek's edge, and over he went! OMG!

Thank the Lord that there was this itty bitty ledge full of tall grass that he landed on, otherwise he would have gone straight into the creek (which would have been followed by Scott going in after him)! After carefully lowering down (he does have a new knee after all), Scott was able to pull him back up...and Raf will no longer NOT be on a leash!

Well, Scott's off to take a nap so Raf and I are going to watch the 2005 movie Munich (4.3 stars) and then settle in with a good book, or at least I hope it's a good book...Ted Dekker's Bone Man's Daughter (3.76 rating...so we'll see). Besides that, we're just anxious for our little Love Bug Harper to get here...as you can see, her seat is just waiting for her...

Until next time...Natalie
